    New Look for CBISA Online™
The "look and feel" of CBISA Online™ has been totally revamped to more closely match our website and our corporate branding.  Some new features include a link to our website located on the upper left side of the screen (click on the Lyon Software logo) and an informational pop-up with customer support contact information (upper right corner, click on the question mark icon).  Along with the new look came a re-architecture of the program for enhanced functionality and speed.

Updated Occurrence screens and multi-selection option
The Occurrence screen has been updated to include the new "memo only" fields for restricted offsetting revenue items.  The original offset fields of "Foundation/Fundraising" and "Grants/Support" will remain on the Occurrence form for historical accuracy and any dollar amounts entered in these fields will reduce the net community benefit.  Any offsetting revenue items entered in the "memo only" fields will not reduce net community benefit and will be totaled and printed on the appropriate IRS Form 990 Schedule H worksheet in the "restricted grant" data field.  Also, for Category C activities, two additional "memo only" offset fields (Medicare Costs and Medicare Revenue) have been added to aid in completing Worksheet 6.

Also, as a new feature, multiple existing occurrence records may be selected for editing or deleting.  To choose multiple records, hold down the control key on your keyboard and use your mouse to highlight each occurrence, or simply "click and drag" until all appropriate records are highlighted.  Enter data into any occurrence field and click on the function button "save".  The edited field(s) will then exist on each selected occurrence.  As in previous versions, you may use this multi-selection feature to delete or move  multiple records.

    All new Financial Service screens
In order to comply with the 2008 Guide for Planning and Reporting Community Benefit and the new IRS Form 990 Schedule H requirements, the Financial Services module has been completely updated.  New data entry fields added to existing screens are as follows:
  • Traditional Charity Care:  Medicaid or provider taxes (expenses), Revenue from other uncompensated care pools or programs (offsetting revenue), and Restricted Grant Revenue (memo only)
  • Unpaid Cost of Medicaid:  or provider taxes (expenses), Net patient service revenue, Revenue from other uncompensated care pools or programs, Prior year revenue (offsetting revenue), and Restricted Grant Revenue (memo only)
  • Means-Tested Programs: Medicaid or provider taxes (expenses), Net patient service revenue, Revenue from other uncompensated care pools or programs, Prior year revenue (offsetting revenue), and Restricted Grant Revenue (memo only)

    New Financial Service screens:
  • Ratios:  used to calculate and store one or more Patient Care Cost to Charges ratio(s).
  • IRS Medicare:  collects and stores Medicare information to complete Part III on IRS Form 990 Schedule H.
  • IRS Bad Debt:  collects and stores numbers for Bad Debt Expense (calculated using the Cost Method or HFMA Statement 15) for Part III on IRS Form 990 Schedule H.
  • IRS Questions:  collects and stores answers to questions contained in Part I, Part III, and Part VI of IRS Form 990 Schedule H.

    New Advanced User options
Advanced User options are now contained on the Advanced tab of the user account.  To allow Facility Reporters to add Activities, check the first box, "Can Add Activities".  To allow Administrative users (System Administrator, Multi-Facility Coordinator, and Facility Coordinator) to manage users, check the second box, "Can Provision Users".  A new advanced option allows Administrative users to see if pending records exist.  To receive the pending record report upon login or changing from one active facility to another, check the third box, "Show Micro Reports".
Please note:  For this version, all existing users with a permission level of "Facility Coordinator" will have the micro reporting option turned on.  If your facility is part of a state hospital association rollup program, you must leave the micro reporting option engaged to see the snapshot request.

    Report changes and additions
All reports have been updated to include the new offsetting revenue fields.
New Reports:  IRS Form 990 Schedule H includes "Worksheet 1" (Charity Care), "Worksheet 2" (Ratio of Patient Cost to Charge), "Worksheet 3-Medicaid" (Unreimbursed Cost of Medicaid), "Worksheet 3-Other" (Unreimbursed Cost of Means-Tested Programs), "Worksheet 4" (Category A and G), "Worksheet 5" (Category B), "Worksheet 6" (Category C), "Worksheet 7" (Category D), "Worksheet 8" (Category E), "Bad Debt Worksheet-Cost", "Bad Debt Worksheet-Statement 15", "Worksheet-Medicare Part III", "IRS Questions-Part I", "IRS Questions-Part III", and "IRS Questions-Part VI".
